The Royal Order of Masonic Knights of the Scarlet Cord

The Grand Supreme Ruler of the Order of the Secret Monitor or Brothers of David and Jonathan, M.Wy.Bro. Peter Glyn Williams at an Especial Meeting of Summus Conclave held on Friday 17th November 2006 conferred the Order on 12 Senior Members of the Order of the Scarlet Cord.

On the 6th October 2009, R.Wy.Bro. Victor Wisden, the Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler of the Order of the Secret Monitor consecrated the first Scarlet Cord Conclave in Sussex which was named the Sussex Conclave No. 540 and would meet at Rowfant House, Crawley, he then installed the first President of that Conclave, Dist. Comp. Paul Norman Rose, our present Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler in the OSM.

On the 6th of April 2010, Littlehampton Scarlet Cord Conclave No.555 was consecrated at the Littlehampton Masonic Centre, once again by R.Wy.Bro. Victor Wisden, assisted by the Officers of the Provincial Grand Conclave of Sussex, followed by the Deputy PGSR Paul Norman Rose, installing the first President of the Conclave Dist Comp. Martin Moore.

On the 29th June 2010, East Sussex Scarlet Cord Conclave No. 569 was consecrated at St. Leonards Masonic Hall, once again by R.Dist.Comp Victor Wisden and assisted by Wy.Bro. Paul Rose who installed the first President of the Conclave, Dist.Comp. Roderick Barker.

At a magnificent meeting held at Great Queen Street, London, the Order of the Scarlet Cord was constituted into a new Order entitled the Royal Order of Masonic Knights of the Scarlet Cord and R.Dist.Comp. Victor Alan Wisden was appointed and invested Provincial Grand Summus of the Provincial Grand Senatus of Sussex.

At this meeting all of the Scarlet Cord Conclaves which had been in existence prior to the Constitution of the New Order were renamed as Consistories and renumbered in order of their Consecration date. Each number to be followed by the initials ‘T.I.’ denoting ‘Time Immemorial’. Sussex Conclave No.540 to become Sussex Consistory No.17 T.I., Littlehampton Conclave No 555 to become Littlehampton Consistory No.34 T.I. and East Sussex Conclave No 569 to become East Sussex Consistory No.59 T.I..

At the First Annual meeting of the Provincial Grand Senatus of Sussex held at Chichester on the 6th October 2010 soon after the re constitution of the Order, The Provincial Grand Summus R.Dist.Comp. Victor Wisden appointed Dist. Comp. Paul Norman Rose as Deputy Provincial Grand Summus and Dist.Comp. Toby Pratt as Assistant Provincial Grand Summus and Dist.Comp. Jerry Griffin as Provincial Recorder.

At the Annual Meeting of the Provincial Grand Senatus held on Saturday 6th October 2012, the Provincial Grand Summus , R.Dist.Comp. Victor Alan Wisden assisted by the Officers of the Province dedicated a Provincial Banner and a Provincial Sword donated to the Province by the Assistant Provincial Grand Summus Dist.Comp. Toby Pratt and engraved by the Deputy Provincial Grand Summus V.Dist.Comp. Paul Rose, the Stand for the Sword was presented by the Provincial Grand Sword Bearer Comp. Michael Chambers. The Provincial Grand Episcopus Dist.Comp. Derek Oliver gave the Oration to the enjoyment and instruction of those present. The Dedication was followed by the Investiture of the Provincial Officers for the ensuing year and by lunch at the Masonic Hall Uckfield.
